Sparky the Dragon bus is finally on the road. Her journey has certainly been an adventure.

3D modelThank you to Rachel Gilbey of Rachel’s Random Resources and her bloggers for taking part in the cover reveal.

Sparky will be off on her own tour next February.

The book holds a special significance to me, both from my Playbus past and my teacher friend who encouraged me with my writing.

On my fiends last day at her school I drove her in to say goodbye, and while she attended the end of term assembly, I had sat in the staff room and wrote the initial draft for Sparky's story.Sparky

Although she’d been ill when I wrote A Spooky Tale, she was feeling better, I dedicated this book to her.

Over the summer my friend and I tried to meet up but with busy lives, one way or another, we had not managed it. Sparky was now about to be published and i had a copy ready to give to my friend.  Sadly, a week before the blog tour, for ‘A Spooky Tale' and the cover reveal for ‘Sparky’, I learnt that my friend had died quite suddenly.

The real SparkyThe real Sparky the Dragon Bus was a project in Glasgow offering play opportunities to disabled children and their families.

Sparkys stairliftThe playbus was quite unique Playbus and contained many special features, such as a chairlift from the lower deck which allowed users access to the upper deck.

Sparky the Dragon bus encouraged many children to come along to the play scheme where they played alongside children of all abilities.

Sparky even received a royal visit from Princess Anne.Royal visit

A copy of the book was sent to The Princess Royal I was pleased to receive a letter of thanks and hope ‘that her granddaughters will very much enjoy reading it.’
